Note: The gravestone on the right was found in Philo's original barn (now the property of Anne Halford). It was probably placed there after his wife Amy was buried next to him, because it had broken in half. At the cemetery he was given a new gravestone (left) to match his wife's, and the original gravestone (right) was placed in the barn. It shows that he died 14 Nov 1865, aged 41 years, 1 month and 8 days, which would make his birthdate 6 Oct 1824. However, some have reported his birth to be 10 Nov 1824. (Gravestones are not considered primary sources for birthdates.)
