Gerow Cemetery

This is a gorgeous little old cemetery up on the hill overlooking an impressive new neighborhood development in the countryside of Haviland Hollow, near Putnam Lake. It's a little tricky to find. It's located on Quaker Rd., just East of the intersection of Haviland Dr. (The name changes to Brimstone Rd on the other side of Haviland Dr. That intersection used to be called Lanes Corners.) The cemetery is just over the Connecticut state line. It can be accessed via Haviland Hollow Rd. via Brimstone Rd., or via Great Hollow Rd. Haviland Hollow Rd. intersects with Great Hollow Rd. on the East side (Fairfield County, CT) and Route 22 on the West side (Putnam County, NY).

I seem to have missed the stone of Samuel Haviland, son of Benjamin Haviland & Mary Haight, and husband of Judith Purdy. It was disinterred from the Valleyville Burying Ground down the street (which is an unmarked site) along with Judith and his daughter Millecent, but I will have to return to the Gerow Cemetery and make an effort at finding Samuel's gravestone. It may be completely worn out, and unreadable.

These two graves are not far to the left of the Lane lot stone of Jesse Lane & True Love Merritt. They are not children, however. Jesse & True Love had three known children: Phebe (b. ca 1815, m.
